Hi,
I just joined the forum and I'm totally confused on how to start a daycare center. My sister and me are going in to this venture together and we have a total of 25K liquid assets, and we were pre-approved for 100K. But our delimma is finding what area we should be amarketing in and what should we pay specific detail to in the contract as far as price per sq footage, and the longevity of the lease commitment? Anyone have any advice on marketing before we open or any other relevant information? Can anyone share relevant information as to start up cost etc.....

I would seek out the advice of SCORE. The Service Corp of Retired Executives. They are a nonprofit organization that offers free business advice and counseling and they are affiliated with the SBA. They also have low-cost workshops all over the Houston area. I believe they also have a daycare start-up guide or sample business plans in their business information center. I would also go to the City of Houston 1 Stop Business Center. They can inform you of all the governmental requirements you may have to meet. Dial 311 from any Houston landline and ask for the 1 Stop Business Center. Both are free resources that will be very valuable.
