I've had SOOO many bunnies! They're great pets and so loving. Most of the time you can buy the bunnies themselves for not much more than $10 each, if not cheaper..unless you want the floppy eared ones (cutest animals ever). They will run you about $20 or so. The supplies are a big more costly, you'll need a cage, $30 or so, and i used the hampster wood chips for lining. Any pet store or farming store will sell rabbit pellets that are relatively cheap as well. ($5)

Good luck! And they really do love carrots, it's so cute especially if they have white fur, it gets all orange around their mouths!!!

Visit http://www.rabbitnetwork.org and http://rabbit.org for information on rabbit care. They're more like cats and dogs in terms of expense.

Adopting from a shelter will be a better bet. Aside form having the spay or neuter already taken care of (That alone can run close to $300 in some areas) shelters will let you have more interaction with the rabbits before you pick one. This helps you make a better choice about which one fits your personality the most.

You really want then fixed, as an unfixed rabbit is more prone to behavioral problems (territorial spraying for starters) and females have a high rate of uterine cancer.

You need to give your rabbits pellets and hay. Hay should be unlimited. Unlimited pellets will result in obesity. The book "How to Live with an Urban Rabbit" is an inexpensive reference book that will give more detail on what to feed your bunny.

Avoid the pellets that are full of "treats" like seeds and colorful bits. They're the rabbit equivalent of living off Fast Food. A good pellet is your best bet. I linked to an article about choosing the right pellet below:

It all depends on where you buy it from. Bunnies can be anywhere from free to hundreds of dollars. All are the same to me and they're all cute...bunnies are bunnies. Cages can be pricey but you can find a good deal if you look around a bit. I've got one for $40 before, and others I've had to pay a couple hundred for. After that all you really need is a food and water bowl, and maybe some straw if it's going to be outside. Bunnies should be fed once a day, you can buy rabbit food really cheap at feed stores, which is where I buy my actual bunnies from at $10. Bunnies are A LOT of fun, good luck!

The pet shop around me sells bunnies for about $30. Cages usually run around $50 and up. Food is about $10 a pop (you have to get pellets and hay). Plus the water bottle you're looking at about $100 total.

I usually give my bunny unlimited pellets and hay. I think you're just supposed to give them unlimited hay though. Also you can give them fresh fruit and vegetables sparingly. Avoid things like iceburg lettuce though.

A good site for all things about bunnies is http://www.rabbit.org. Also, please don't get a bunny unless you're willing to spend plenty of time with it. Bunnies are social animals and can be your best friend, but you need to give them attention.
