I checked the http://www.rockauto.com parts catalog under 1967 AMERICAN MOTORS REBEL 4.8L 290cid V8 : Fuel/Air : Carburetor.

A remanufactured carburetor for the car is $158 and here is a picture of it: http://info.rockauto.com/UnitedReman/uremco.htm?holley2bbl_2209_2210_2245.gif

Well, the 290 is the same as a lot of the AMC engines such as the 304, 343, 360, 390, and 401 as far as induction goes. The manifolds are interchangeable. Are you trying to do a restoration or just hop it up a little? If you are going for the resto, look for a Motorcraft (Ford) 2100 2bbl carb. These carbs are VERY common as they came on nearly every 2bbl V8 ever put in a Ford vehicle throughout the '50s, '60s, and '70s. I have one on my '67 Mustang, one on my '77 Mustang II and another on my '78 F-150.

If you are going for a hot rod, do yourself a favor and get an Edelbrock 4bbl intake, and then go with a performance carb. Edelbrock's 1403 or 1404 at 500 CFM would be great for your 290.

Good luck with your fun ride!

Yes however it is best to start out with what is wrong with yours if you have one...

if not we need to obtain thru a proper search of special information manuals the exact original carb # your car came with for best results...

I can guarantee I can find you a replacement if you need it and it will be properly rebuilt when it reaches your hands..

Do you have an original carb casting to work with??.
