I'm 23 and just finishing up my teaching degree in North Carolina. As a history major, I am required to write several papers each semester that require appropriate citations, grammar and spelling. Because my mother is a English teacher, I have learned how to properly develop, write, and submit a finished paper complete with a working thesis, proper documentation and correct spelling. However, as I am asked to peer edit the papers of my colleagues, I am angered that half of them do not know how to write an appropriate thesis statement, or use appropriate grammar in their papers. I think it is a lack of responsibility of the schools in the rush to obey the No Child Left Behind Act, the parents, and the students for not listening to their teachers. Yes, I am going into the teaching field myself, and I intend on spending a lot of time working with my students to learn how to write appropriate papers. I'm so sick of seeing so many papers with mistakes on the college level. If I were a professor, I would tear up the paper because it's not worth the mess to read a paper that does not make sense.

Hey! I'm 20 and i'm even apalled by my generation and younger generations for spelling and grammer mistakes. I admit i am not the best at grammer but i love to spell and do not think it should be a problem. People my age are having difficulties between the word well and will in a sentence and do not know how to spell the most common words. It is becoming bad. I blame a lot on technology, for example as stated spell checks and what not, we do not check over our papers because we think technology will do it for us. and also because of computers and tv and what not kids are not reading as much therefore are not becoming familiar with words and concepts and correct grammatical sentences! This is a very good point!

that's believed in our way of existence (Pakistan) that it takes 2 palms to clap. that's the fault of both. scholars because they don't take the soreness to strengthen it. also they imagine that's their community language and heavily, no individual takes ones language heavily. Blaming the equipment may be ineffective because that's what we do everytime. yet sure also they're accountable. instructors and tutorial establishments do not take their duty as resposiblly because it will be taken. reading is the biggest issue, which more beneficial than of the human beings global are allergic to. Why waste time reading, once you may waste it a lot more beneficial useful playng violent video games, or observing ineffective stuff on the television or nevertheless more beneficial useful you've the web to absolutely spoil the language- luv, bcoz, u, ur, gr8....

I agree! It's easy to see far too many of the young posters here don't even bother using the built in spelling checker.
