Not all silences have too be bad. Sometimes it's just a pause to think of the next topic of conversation or maybe a thoughtful answer.

Mostly it is just a case of nerves. But there are people who are gifted with the ability to allow their mouth to run on.

Otherwise If youa re looking for a way to talk with others make a list of appropriate questions that you could ask someone. If you keep in mind that you should be able to answer them your self and have an idea of follow up questions you should be on the right track.

Also choose people that smile and make eye contact.

Still waters run deep. People who can talk nonstop often have nothing going on upstairs. Be happy that you aren't one of them and become comfortable with silence. They say one sign of a healthy relationship is comfort in silence...

Look man, i'm not much of a talker either. The silences are only awkward because you say they are awkward. Play it off right, and the silences can't work in your favor. After all, women like men who can listen to the crap they have to say like shopping and crap.

They are very confident and outgoing people, i have awkward silences with my closest friends but that's just me. I would love to be like other people but sometimes talking too much is not a good thing.

Used to happen to me all the time, in highschool. But it was because i was new to the place, and did not have a lot of friends, so i used to be soo carefull before speaking, while making sure i was only talking the things that other people will like and agree with me, but now that i am in university, and i know this place and people around here, its back to normal now...just remeber to have confidence in youself...and remember u want people to like u, for who u are...SO SPEAK UR MIND..and i promise u the conversation will flow...good luck!!! :)

i have always thought that when people are really comforable with one another silence is a sign of that.
you a listener that what i think so listen seem interested compliment smile and asking question that require more then a yes or no answer . other then that enjoy the peace and quiet.

There is nothing awkward about silence, constant chatter is boring, nerve-racking.
