The easiest way to solve problems like this is to simply look up each word in a dictionary until you find a definition that fits. If you don't have, or don't want to use, a paper dictionary, http://www.dictionary.com is a great alternative.

Let's use the first question as an example:
perpetuate - cause to continue indefinitely
"The Queen caused to continue indefinitely..." Nope, doesn't make sense.

accrue- grow by addition
"The Queen grew by addtion.."
Umm, nope.

commence - begin, start
"The Queen began and made peace... "
Began to do what? That can't be it, either.

interpose - to step in between parties at variance; mediate.
"The Queen mediated and made peace..." AHA! That makes sense!

Now you just keep going that way and you'll see it's really easy. :)

1. "interposed".
2. sagacious (wise)
3. improvisation (he made it up as he went along)
4. alacrity (speed)\
5. disdain (can't stand the so-and-so!)
6. prostrate (flat on her tummy on the floor)
7. symbol
8. simile (Shakespeare used "as", and he could also have used the word "like" in his comparison)
9. contagion (disease) -- hmm, might also be pestilence, but I would bet contagion is the correct one.
10. dauntless (fearless)

Go with my choices--I'm always really good at this particular kind of stuff.
