Hotels work 24/7..
Staff dont.. Most hotels now are trying to implement a 5 day work week. For the management level it is easier to have a 5 day work week and it is being practiced around here..But not to operational staff.. as they are being roostered and have to clog in a number of hours per week..Lack of staff is also the main reason why most hotels do not have 5 days work week for the operataion stuff.

Singapore top hotels are alive 24/7. The smaller ones will also be available everyday! Maybe just not in the middle of the night- but even then, they might have people to take you in.

Hmm, I doubt any hotel in the world, let say alone in Singapore, are working in a 5-day work week basis. It is impossible for that, as you know hotel industry is a front-line customer service job, it is unlikely to operate on a 5-day work week.

Even customer service officers, front-desk officers, hotline officers, banquet sales officers, catering officers, maintenancing staffs, housekeeping ladies, chamber-maids are working on a 24/7 working hours.

Unless, you're referring to the back-end operation jobs like administration & accounts etc. They can be working on a 5-days work week basis. These jobs doesn't require a 24/7 on-job performance.

All hotels operate 24/7, definitely... But if you are referring to employees working days, then it will depend on the position...

Operation staff works on shift system... depending on the hotel, on average each staff work 8 hrs shift, with 1hr meal break, 5 days straight, 1 day off... again, this depends on the policy of hotel and occupancy...

Administrative staff normally work Monday to Friday (some hotels demand Saturday half day work)... theoritically, 8am-6pm... in reality, nobody will go home at 6pm!...

Executive Member, again theoritically working 5days week or 5 and a half days week, with the above mentioned timing... but in reality they work from 7am-10ish pm...

Some positions like General Manager and Resident Manager are on call 24 hours...

Hospitality industry is a very demanding job... after a while you realize your life is the hotel you work in... but it's FUN!

i think it relies upon on what your contract says. i think of many times that while you're salaried which you're meant to get a regularly happening earnings each and each month. in case you artwork too many hours, i do no longer think you will possibly get extra funds, so i think of the comparable shouldn't lose any in case you do no longer artwork sufficient hours until eventually its because of being absent or some thing like that. you could ought to look on the info of your contract to make certain if there's a clause which might enable them to cut back your hours without informing you. it ought to be benefitial to get somebody like voters suggestion or somebody like that to envision your contract for you. i think of that your first call ought to be on your corporation to ask them what they're doing. in the event that they'll cut back your gross revenues then you certainly've a right to understand approximately it. it would be sturdy to additionally see how they interpret your contract because it ought to be an illustration of what they are going to be prefer to artwork for sooner or later.
