Almost anything you can imagine. I used to work for a medical research lab that injected animals (dogs, monkies, cats) with radioactive chemicals and then killed them. It gets much more graphic than that, but I won't mention it here. They were trying to determine if the procedure would be safe for humans, by the way, so there was some method behind the madness.
