I am trying to set up a netgear router to my Verizon Dsl. I do not have the disk. What settings do I need to change for my modem (on 192.168.1.1) and what settings do I need to copy to my router settings? Question only for people that really know what they are doing. Thanks!

If you have a the Westell modem, you will find that you will have difficulty in installing any type of router as the westell modem is a router.

If you call verizon, they can supply you with a wireless kit that WILL work with their DSL service. The cost is about $80 or so, but is so worth the headaches of trying to get the westell to play well with other networking equipment. The solution is a DSL modem and wireless router in one...........

I've tried and tech support/india is absolutely no help in this, so don't even try. They read from a script of common problems and if it goes beyond that, they are lost.

Routers route things... so you really don't need to change anything with your settings or modem. Your router should have came with a DSL cord, so there should be a special port in your router that you plug the cord from your modem to your router.you have your router set up, now all you got to do is get another cord plug it into your computer. you should have about 7 free ports of internet

most routers will config themselves on hookup, you might want to change log in password and turn wep security on. If you need an install disc from your isp to go any farther then well contact them.

Go here http://kbserver.netgear.com/downloads_support.asp then choose the model of router you have. You can then look up the documentation on your router setup.

Also remember tha most DSL requires a user name and password. So you will have to set that up in the PPPoE set up.
