We're witnessing basketball greatness right now, and it is so frustrating to see so many people dismissing Kobe. Is it because of the rape trial (of which he was never found guilty)? Is it because Shaq and Kobe BOTH had big egos, but since Kobe stayed in town, he got the blame? Is it because people simply can't handle the fact that Kobe is getting close (if not already) on pace to- AT LEAST- equal the scoring prowess of MJ?
Kobe has, by his own concession, made some mistakes- but he shouldn't be perpetually condemned by the casual basketball fan for his personal flaws. Just look at what he does on the court!!! This is a man who scored 81 points and scored 65 and 50 in consecutive games. Why can't people appreciate a true master of the craft? Also, Kobe is maturing, even the coach who said he was "uncoachable" has a good relationship with him now. MJ, in his last season with bulls, averaged just 3 assists, but Kobe is averaging almost 6 and he's still a "ball-hog". RECOGNIZE!

Everything you said is true. I'm a fan of great athletes and could recognize greatness. Kobe Bryant is the best in the NBA as of today. People still call Kobe a ball hog and over rated?! The last time I checked the statistics, he was #18 in assists and #2 in high scores. The Lakers are the #1 sell out team in the NBA, for both Home and Away games. Kobe Bryants jersey is the #1 seller in the NBA today. However, I don't blame people for hating him. With his skills, he is someone you'd love to hate. For those who compares MJ to KB, there are no comparisons. MJ had Scottie Pippen which is also an ALL-STAR and descent players who have confidence and shooting capabilities. Don't forget, MJ didn't like to pass the ball very well either throughout his career. KB on the other hand has recognized reality and knows he needs to play more of a team player. Kobe has ODOM which is a OK/GOOD player and a bunch of OK players that are new to the team. Lakers this year has at least 40% of the team injured, so KB is forced to play more mins and shoot more because of his capabilities. With enough said, do your HW and look up whats in the book and learn people.

There are a few elements of your quick tale that I don't trust. He used to be very egocentric whilst Shaq used to be there. They might have gained many extra championships however he used to be too egocentric. Also, up till this season, he had plenty of situation regarding different men and women and that's what men and women imply by way of making others higher. He did a far higher task this 12 months and that's why he acquired MVP. He has consistently been a wonderful participant however that aspect used to be lacking, till now. He is hated for the reason that of those matters and for the reason that of what occurred with that woman. If he didn't rape her (which I feel he didn't) then at quality he's a womanizer and cheats on his spouse. Not well traits while you wish to place anybody on a pedestal. I did not like him an excessive amount of till this 12 months, deliver it a while.

Sorry..as stated in an earlier answer Kobe couldn't hold Mike's jock...I don't deny he's phenomally gifted but he shoots way too much, makes poor decisions at critical stages of games too often, and whether he was convicted or not his even being in the situation of getting charged with rape tells everyone what kind of person he truly is and he will probably never win an MVP award unless he simply dominates every other player in the league statwise AND wins a title..which I doubt ever happens.

Kobe is a great player. I'm not saying that because I'm a Kobe fan. Like what you said, Kobe's image change when he had that rape trial. Also the time when Shaq left. And they hate Kobe because of his attitude. People just like to down Kobe because they know he is greatness. Someday, I dream, they wil bow to his dominance. Love hime or hate hime, he is one great player.

I really don't think Kobe wants to hold Mike's jock. I also can't say he's better than MJ, simply because I didn't see him in his prime and most of you didn't either! You're just going by what everybody else says.

simple. because he's good.
or, they might hate him for being a ballhog. but despite being a ballhog, he tried his best to involve his teammates this season. he has more assists now. but the last 2 games, when he became a ballhog once more, when he scored for 65 and 50 back-to-back, he just did what he thought was right. because if he didn't do what he did (which was to carry the team AGAIN all by himself), they would've continued losing. they wouldn't hvae been able to snap their losing streak.
am i right??=P

and yeah, i'm a MAVS fan...

GO MAVS!!

6 assists in 48 minutes is pathetic. He takes way too many shots. He is immature and MOST OF ALL he elbowed 3 guys intentionally awhile back. He's a little biatch!!!!! One of the VERY few people I just can't stand!

i actually like to watch him play but
1. running shaq and a dynasty out of town
2. telling on shaq (hush $) and malone (hitting on wife)
3. whiny
4. racist hitting only whites
5. selfish
6. cheater
7. arrogant
8. i could go on and on... basically i hate who he is and what he stands for off the court. i wouldn't want my son to think highly of such a disgraceful man. i'd rather him idolize wade or someone with character.
