My best friend is prego with twins and she is almost 38 weeks and the babies both are about 6 lbs. I thought most twin carriers only went to about 34 weeks.

Thanks everyone, Her doctor actually stopped her contraction when she was 36 wks cause she wanted to give them a steroid shot for there lungs and then gave her pills to keep the contractions away for another week but she hasn't started back into labor after that and her doctor said she would induce if she made it to her next appointment on Fri. Both of the girls are head down and ready to go . She already has a son that is 3 so they don't think she will have a problem. I can't wait.

That's amazing!
There's no "full time" for twins, so the longer a mother carries them the better! Most DON'T make it to 40 weeks, but most twins I know were born around 37 weeks.

the first twin gestation is 35 weeks (single toddlers are an primary of 39 weeks). term for any toddlers continues to be seen 37 weeks. Twins born at 36 weeks may be seen preterm, yet in my adventure, making all of it the thank you to 36 weeks for twins is exceedingly darn sturdy :) Congratulations on your toddlers birthdays!

Actually they consider 38 weeks to be full-term for twins, although alot of women have them a little earlier. That is fantastic that she's made it this far, and 6lbs each is nice and big. Congrats to her!

It's wonderful that your friend has been able to carry her twins to 38 weeks!!!
They will be better developed and more ready to face the world when they are born.

Normal for twins is considered to be 37 weeks, but my friend had hers at 41 weeks! So it's possibly. I had my twins at 33 weeks, which was a little early but they were still fine at 4lb 3oz each. :)

40 wks is the norm for a single pregnancy. She is doing wonderfully for having twins and they seem to be above average for their weight. They must be very healthy!

that is really long for twins. most women who are pregnant with twins have them early. those must be some really healthy babies.

they usually induce at that point, it's terribly odd for the doctors to delay this birth for so long. the size of the babies can cause major complications for a natural birth, unless she has elected for a C section i have no idea why they are letting her go full term with such large twins.

Oh no, 2 babies makes the whole thing go a bit slower. She should pop them out soon, but if she goes a month over she'll probably have to induce labor.
