Hell I'll simplify it down further than that. I can tell within a few seconds whether or not I'd ever want to spend an extended period of time with a person. I don't see how anyone, gay or straight, could not determine such a thing within a few solid minutes of conversation.

I think that everyone, gay/straight, male/female, that wants something long term makes that desicion fairly quickly about the person they are interested in. Self preservation.

Us straight men don't always know right away. I find the girl that creeps up on you slowly is the one you find you can't live without.

I never felt immediate long term potential with anybody...they just always turned out that way. ...sounds stupid but I can't explain it.
