Some Americans feel this way for one simple reason. The United states is currently the largest economy in the world. It is 3 times the size of Japan, which ranks #2. So while the United States doesnt have the largest population, it does control a very large percentage of the world's wealth & resources.

Not all of us do. I realize there is a huge world out there and I try to keep up on what is going on. I usually watch the BBC world news and read as many news stories on Yahoo as I can.

I don't think it has to do with economy cause there are European & Asian countries with such good economies and they do not think the world revolve around them.
I think its media and ignorance. The government has done an excellent job by controlling the masses with media. They show you a world they want you to see and with the lack of education and open-mindness of the people makes their job easier.

IMO the good ole "USA" isn't number one OR the world. without "other countrys" by our side we are like ant's.
to me the U.S is nothing special at all, it's only dirt. now what I DO believe is "mother earth" I would Fight to save mother earth instead of "U.S.A". but sadly..even mother earth is die cause people just don't give a damn about it..without mother earth we are "nothing"

It's annoying when I see this attitude and usually it's among Republicans. (Sorry guys....that's just my experience). I do not think that and neither do alot of others. sure we have alot of pride, but I think once Bush is finally out of office (will it ever come!) things will be soooo much different.
