Are you referring to the Dems Iraq plan?

Because the "spending bill" includes a timetable to start bringing troops home within a year and would undermine military efforts.

Liberals want to start troop withdrawals immediately, but conservative members worry that they are micromanaging the war.

Iraq needs to stabilize and be more self supportive before we start talking about pulling our troops out of there.

If you mean the funding bill with withdrawal timelines, it is because that war is his only accomplishment as President, and he just cannot admit there is no way to win it on his terms. Of course, his terms are probably that every single heathen semite fall on his or her knees and find Jesus.

If you mean, however, why will he veto any significant Democratic initiative, I think that would be because he and his party do not hear what the voters just said. The GOP thinks that they can tough it out, and regain the majority in 2008.

Maybe. Maybe the voters will just speak louder.

Because they insist on using funding for politic gains & not common sense. WIthholding funding hurts only the troops & the dems want a pitbull in the back yard as long as they dont have to walk it but after something happens they take the mossel off & sick him on anyone until it goes bad then they were for it only to be against it or as Clinton says had she known this or that she would have done differently well had I known last weeks big lotto number I would have bought a ticket instead I saved a buck. If you are against bush or even republicians so be but again dont play with the lives of the military in the time of war & act like you care or are trying to do something about it other then make it politics & I dont know many who want their sons to die let alone for "politics" or monday morning guarderbacking insteading of trying to protect america. Dems want us to run with our tails between our legs but crimes are commited daily in this country yet you dont read about a drug bust comeing down in LA or NY until after the bust & sure once in a while it goes bad but theirs a reason you dont get advanced warning of a drug bust because that contradicts the thing you are trying to stop just like tieing the hands of the military announcing that we will leave & so the bad guys can just wait & then take over & make us still look bad & again playing politics with other peoples lives. There arent too meany in congress who's sons or daughters over there so they dont care either way but if it can get them the white house in two years then its good for them & right now anything against bush to them is good. I ask where the Passenger bill of rights was a few months ago let alone during Clintons first Reign but suddenly after nature happens & a few passengers are inconvienced then suddenly its all she & other dems talk about. Instead of working they play revenge & party politics again with other people's sons yet they give themselves raises year after year both parties & on top of that dont even work a 40 hour week. All you head about is get bush other then the minium wage hike which hurt small business most democrats have done little until the passenger bill of rights or Iraq & not the whole Lawyer firings. Dems smell blood & Bush maybe bleeding even bit by a shark alone in the ocean but is poking back & waiting for the next shark attack to poke.

To keep an upper hand as much as he can.
It's a divided country now, with the President and Congress being run by different parties. Yet, somehow that is an improvement.
