It seems like you already have quite a host of ideas. Considering that today is the 4th anniversary of the foray into Iraq, you might want to tackle that question. Otherwise, I would suggest the headscarf issue in France, famine in Africa, effects of the caste system in India, the legacy of the Tsunami in South East Asia, the destruction of the Amazon forest, the immigration issues between Mexico and America, AIDS in Africa and India, a lack of education in rural China, the favoring of boys over girls in nearly every Asian society....
Our world has far too many problems, it shouldn't be too difficult to pick one to talk about...

The AIDS epidemic in Africa. Its becoming out of control. Governments are scrambling to find ways to control it. There are numerous articles addressing this. The people aren't educated and the women aren't given many choices in that culture. Two factors that hinder ways to prevent the spread.
This is a HUGE problem that is gaining more attention.
I believe it was Newsweek that just published an article about this, there was interviews with African men about how many sexual partners they had. Some didnt' even know how many they had and no protection was used.
You can find alot of material about this, especially reasons for why it is spreading and why a lot of the people are noncompliant with the govt education efforts.

#2 Any interest on doing a paper on the American plans to build a new missile defense shield? If so there's a real problem about starting a new arms race. Russia is threatening Czech Republic and Poland for allowing the system to be built in their nations.

Hmm, I might mostly prefer.... Consumer Public, and Enviormental Health. Seems probably the most exciting out of all of the ones and im certain there is a ton of knowledge approximately that matter.

maybe the aids epidemic in many african countries there are some horrible stories out there about that like how a rumor got started that having sex with a virgin would cure you so rape of baby and toddler girls is commonplace over there
