1. Search for temp files( In search box type *.tmp) click search. Delete all files that appears after search.
2. Than as above type *.log & do the same.
3. Search Temp folder Delete all it's content.
4. Search Temprory Internet Files & delete it's content.
5. Run updated Antivirus & Anti spyware.
6. Run disk cleanup from system tools in accessories.
Rt click on the drive & choose property if it shows 50% used space than delete unnecessary files from you system. Take back up of your important data & application software & delete & un install them. Use your back up CD to restore when you need again. Get good registry cleaner, winxp manager & clean the registry.

Sometimes it can be the swap file. Windows creates a hidden file that it uses when you run out of system memory. It's like virtual memory. It doesn't really contain any data other that what programs store in it just like they do system ram. If you have this set to auto which is the default windows setting, then windows controls it and makes more space available if it's needed. You probably don't have a lot of system ram so Windows is forced to use the virtual memory sometimes and sees a need to increase the size of it.

Nothing is wrong. It is using free space. This happens when more data takes up space.

Maybe you need to go into the start menu look into your accessories and do a disk cleanup and defragment. Then go back into your computer and check your hard drive.
