yes, but do not let that stop you from following your dreams.
You can achieve anything you know you can do.

It certainly is, but if that is what is your passion, then you must never give up your dream. I don't know what part of the U.S. you live, but if you lived in NY, that is the fashion capital of the world, and I would get a job in one of the fashion houses and work under a famous designer. If not, then just keep designing, go to a very good fashion design school and keep working to make your designs special. Another thing I would do is sew up a few styles that you designed, and bring them to a good department store in your area and try to sell them outright to them. That would be a good opening for you if they do sell. Also boutiques are a good area for you to look into. Boutiques are great because they mostly have one of a kind outfits and if you sell your items to them, they may ask for more if they sell. But the best way to be a fashion designer, is to work hard, study, and follow your dream. Good Luck

Yes. I've been working in this industry for ten years & it is tough, but after about 3-6 years you start to get on your feet. Now I have people come up to me & say they have heard of me. It is very fun, so I'd say it's worth it.

its extremelllly toughhhh...my best friend's aunt is a designer...her brand is called Nicole Bakti...go on www.nicolebakti.com
it has been extremely hard for her. she graduated from design school Otis Parsons which is really hard to get into and is even harder to grduate from than Harvard. It was a longggg journey before she finally went to become a designer...so its pretty hard but if you put your mind into it then im sure you could make it because SHE DID!

it is a very competitive, rewarding, fun, frustrating, wonderful, intense industry to work in.
if you truly love every single aspect of fashion..and are willing to work very hard..you will be happy with your choice.
you have to truly love what you work at in life...then work becomes fun.
( yes..i work in the fashion industry in manhattan..in design...and i love it!!)
