It's probably not your ADSL service per-se. It's probably your router crashing.

check to see if there is a firmware upgrade to that thing. If it continues, I suggest you buy a router from a more mainstream manufacturer like Netgear or D-Link.

This also happens to me sometimes. Definitely set an upload limit if you haven't already. Also try switching the port being used, and make sure your firewall isn't blocking it. Also try downloading large files at night or early in the morning, or contact your ISP- some of them are douches and pull the plug on excessive bandwith use at "prime" times for downloading.

I had a problem like that. I switched to Azureus and set the download and upload speed to 10 K. Then after a while if it doesn't crash, I up the speed one step at a time. It takes more time, but it doesn't crash anymore.

Try lowering the number of simultaneous connections and the upload speed. You are killing your router with too many connections

i would advise getting rid of flashget
and get either
http://www.utorrent.com/
or
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/
and download either of them or even try them both out to see what suits you better
use that for torrents

REMEMBER its all FREE

as long as YOU SHARE back what you take ;)
you may have to portforward you router
