we want a good bakery in the beaverton/portland area that can make a great, special cake for our co-worker, who is leaving. any recommendations on where or what kind of cake to get is appreciated =D

Try the Bales Thriftway on Canyon Road in Beaverton. They have the absolute best cake ever. My family gets a cake from them for every occasion you can think of. For some reason that Thriftway is the only one with such good cakes. I would HIGHLY recommend going there for a specialty cake.

Beaverton Bakery!!! They made the best desserts - all from scratch with real butter. They aren't cheap but oooooh soo good. You can even find them online at:

However, if your co-workers don't chip in much, Costco makes a darn good cake as well and you can get a HUGE one for $14.99 with mousse in the middle of the layers!

Piece of Cake in Sellwood just a few min south of Portland does amazing cakes and they specialize in wheat free, gluten free, sugar free and elaborate decorations.

holiday essence, it's off 102nd near fremont, in NE Portland. they have all kinds of fancy great tasting cakes, they had a banana nut cake i believe and it was great. plus they will put real flowers on the cake if you're into that kind of thing.
