Paul Fusco - Gordon "ALF" Shumway [Voice/Puppeteer]
Around 1985 Paul came up with the idea of ALF using an alien character that was hanging around his house and annoying his family. He decided ALF needed a show and took him to agents and producers to try and get a deal. The agent he met, Bernie Brillstein introduced him to TV/Movie writer Tom Patchett, and together they came up with the idea of a sitcom. After rejecting an offer from Disney to buy the character and show concept outright they pitched to NBC's Brandon Tartikoff who loved the idea and commisioned the show. "ALF" was a huge success, lasting four seasons and 102 prime time episodes.

Hope that helps...........

A.L.F. -- US T.V. sitcom on NBC, that originally ran from
1986-1990.

Michu Meszaros played the actor in the A.L.F.
costume. Paul Fusco operated the A.L.F. puppet,
supplied A.L.F.'s voice and co-produced the
series with Tom Patchett. Patchett also
co-created, wrote, and directed the series.

The acronymic letters in the title of this NBC sitcom stood for
"Alien Life Form," as a good a way as any to describe the protagonist, an orange-haired, pint-sized 299-year-old space alien with an aardvark-like nose and a propensity for mischief and comic sarcasm. Known on his home planet Melmac as Gordon Shumway, ALF (his voice provided by the series' co-creator Paul Fusco)... Click below for more at this site.
