Go ahead and take the deal. Overbay is good, but there is a better option on your waiver wire. Chris Duncan qualifies at 1B and will be a starter this year, he won't be on your waivers for long after the season starts. He hit 22 HR's in 90 games playing part time last year. He could hit 40 this year playing full time. He will only play against RHP so you have to watch his starts. He does hit over .300 against RH so don't let that throw you.
You also have an issue to address at 3B, Beltre is a slow starter and may drag your avg down. You might want to pick up Edwin Encarnacion just in case.

But take this deal and don't worry too much about Overbay. You get as much or more out of Mariano.

Well i saw you listed this in the baseball question as well i comment that you could counter offer Rivera for McCann straight up.

After looking at your team and the league I bet you could offer up both McCann and Overbay to another team for an upgrade in Rp(not a rivera but more like a Chris Ray) and a big upgrade at third base considering that seems to be a weak position on your roster.

As far as ranking your team it seems to Fair pretty even with the rest of the League. You might want to get another starting Pitcher with a lower era to help in that category.

First, accepting the trade is a very good idea. Your lineup is pretty good although your average is a little low and you could probably use a few more SB. I like the top half of you rotation but I'm not so fond of Garland, Lilly, or Glavine. Their WHIP is too high and they don't have enough Ks. You probably drafted them because of wins, but wins are so volatile that I never draft a pitcher based on how many wins he has. Clemens and Patterson are in the free agent pool and I think it would be worth it to give them a shot.

Overall your team is one of the more balanced in your league and about half of the owners seem stupid (i.e. Halladay, Webb, and Pudge are no where near first rounders) so I figure you've got a good chance if you get some more Ks and lower your WHIP.

I say you take it for sure. You really have no use for McCann, unless Mauer gets injured, but what are the odds of that? If i had your team, mccann or mauer would just be trade bait anyway. your only closer is BJ ryan. ryan along with rivera would be an awesome duo. dont worry much about overbay. you have nick swisher at first, and im sure if desperate you can find plenty of good first basemen. if your that worried, nick johnson is available, and don't doubt shawn casey (also available). your only true weakness is closer, and you get an elite one. remember, you can always slide cuddyer from util to first in case of injury and bring a bench player as util. take it.

Dont worry about giving up Overbay, he had a career year in 2006 but it will be difficult to repeat. He will be hitting 2nd instead of 5th like last year so he will get many fewer rbi opportunities.

There's usually some danger that a trade improves the other guy's team more than it does yours. It's the case here. BUT, that other guy's team is horrible. rofl. He's no threat. Do the deal.

ps.- you want to work on improving your starting pitching too.
