When a female is born, she already has all the ova she will ever need in her lifetime. She is born with approximately 4 - 6 million. However, as she ages and reaches her childbearing years, millions will die. In the average female's lifetime, she will have approximately 400 - 600 viable eggs in her childbearing years.

women typically start with between 400 and 600 eggs at birth. Subtract an egg or two for every ovulation cycle. So let's say she started with 500 just to split the difference, got her period when she was 14 and has no family history of twins, she would have around 462 eggs remaing. of course this is just a rough estimate, there is no one number. it's different for every woman.
