Catherine Cookson I started reading her books at 10 years old the first one I read was The Round Tower I loved it. It still is my favourite 40 years on and believe me I have read many books over the years, too many to recall but I love reading.
Currently I am reading," Traitors Gate" by Anne Perry. Just read the Da vinci code (loved it ) I will read pretty much anything.

Iris Murdoch by a mile. I cannot believe there has ever been a better author. I read her books and I it disappoints me to know that I could never write like it. The words hum a tune; the plots are intriguing but most of all she was a woman with theories and they come over by the hundreds in a single book. If you feel tempted try "The Sea, the sea". I believe it was a Booker prize winner as well.

I have 2 with very different reasons.
Augusten Burroughs; because he's funny and I can identify with a lot of what he's been through (no matter how bizarre!) because I've experienced a lot of the stuff he has.
Kelley Armstrong; because I can sink straight into her books and all my problems vanish for a while. She's an easy read with great characters, excellent plots & one hell of an imagination.

I have a few. Susanna Rowson, Ayn Rand, Mary Higgins Clark, Agatha Christie and Tami Hoag just to name a few. They are all talented, they get you sucked into the story where you feel lost in it and cannot put the book down and I have read everything they have written.
