This may be a matter of opinion as both are good. My Laptop is old and use a Celeron Processor 500 MHz, 196 MB RAM. It has done well and I actually move fast on the Internet. My Desktop I use a AMD 64 San Diego 2.4 GHz, 1 GB RAM. It really not much faster than the Celeron, but, it is faster. Now running high end programs and graphics the AMD leave my old Laptop behind, but, that a whole other story. Pentium D is good too. Some of my friends have them, but, we not see much difference in the D and the AMD.
So, it really depend on what you want to do. Heck, I still have an old 486 66 Mhz with Windows 3.11 and as far as Internet it almost as fast as the Celeron (When on Dial-up), what kill it is I can only connect with Dial-up and the Laptop & Desktop on Cable.
