You could have endless arguments with bikers about this.

If you're talking fastest as in top speed in standard showroom spec, then it's either the Suzuki GSX-1300 Hayabusa or the recently launched Kawasaki ZX-14, depending on which magazine you choose to believe. I have ridden both bikes and I choose to believe it is the Hayabusa. And Performance Bike magazine recently chose a Hayabusa for their attempt at breaking the British Land Speed Record, when they could have chosen a ZX-14.

Although both are electronically restricted to 186mph (300kph) in the UK, both bikes have been tested at over 190mph in standard spec by foreign bike magazines. The ZX-14 is slightly more powerful, the 'Busa has slightly better aerodynamics - result: inconclusive.

Either way, it is certainly not the MV Agusta! Fast as it may be, it has never delivered either the power or the speed of the ZX-14 or Hayabusa in independent tests. It's more of a public schoolboy's wet dream bike.

However, if you are talking about ANY motorcycle, then have a look here:

Looking into the future, this absurd monstrosity may one day take the title - although some would argue whether it is actually a motorcycle at all.

There are many answers. Which do you want?
Fastest air cooled or liquid cooled engine?
Fastest over all with pistons or fastest street legal?
Fastest street legal or off the showroom floor?

Currently the fastest off the showroom floor is still the Suzuki GSXR1300 Hayabusa. Since new motorcycles are governed and this was the fastest before that, and still in production.
Fastest Motorcycle in the world.. well that would have to be Jim Noonan's GSXR1300 at almost 247 MPH

Funniest part is if you type Fastest motorcycle into any search engine Hayabusa will be all over the screen.

The Kawisaki ZX-14 and the Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa both get top honors... the zx14 is supposed to be slightly faster than the busa, but considering that the busa hasnt changed much since it's 1999 release, the zx-14 is kind of disappointing in its performance.

Top speed on both is artificially limited to 186 mph out of the factory. I think the record for speed between the two goes to a highly modified busa which could hit 250 something mph.

Pointless!

Sorry that sounds stroppy, but like OTT cars unless you're on a racetrack any speed significantly over the speed limit is wasted.
I used to teach advanced riding techniques and I used to tell riders that instead of riding on a straight road with the aim of trying to reach 150 it'd improve their riding, and be far more rewarding if they get onto a really twisty road and try to maintain 50.
The best rider I ever met (trains the UK police riders) rides a CB500, it requires rider skill to ride it well, will easily break speed limits and he uses it to within 90% of it's limits, far better and more rewarding than being an idiot on a ballistic missile in a skill free zone.

As before -

The fastest road legal, standard production bike ever made, is the M.T.T. Y2K.

Its top speed is around 230mph. That's way, WAY faster than anything ever made in Japan or Europe...
