how much do you suppose it would cost to have some one come in and repair a hose for a whirlpool washer machine?

Replacement hoses are cheap and easy to install yourself. A repairman will charge $30 to $60 plus the cost of the hose. Anyone you know that is handy would probably have no trouble doing it for you.

Don't even bother. It is a very easy DIY task.

Buy a pair of hoses for about ten bucks at Home Depot or Lowe's. Get the good kind with a metal reinforcing braid on them to prevent their bursting in a few years.

You can do the attachment in a few minutes. Shut off the water. Pull the washer back from the wall to get some room to reach the hoses. Get a pliers and twist the metal part at one end of the hose in a counter clockwise direction. When it loosens then twist it off by hand and drop the end of it into the basin or drain so any water will not spill on the floor. Now twist off the other end the same way. Discard the old hose. Now screw the two ends of the hose onto the faucet and the washer turning by hand in a clockwise direction. Do the final turn with the pliers. Repeat for the other hose. You don't have to know which is hot and which is cold because you are doing one hose at a time.

Turn the water back on and start the washer on a cycle that uses both hot and cold so you can look for leaks on both hoses. Push the washer back into place.

That is all there is. You just saved the service charge and your hoses were cheaper too.

There is nothing more to it than connecting and disconnecting an ordinary water house like a hose used outside. Id ask a neighbor to do it or do it yourself. Buy the hose at Lowes or Depot for about $5 That includes the new screen and rubber washers.

Honey, you can buy a new one at home depot for about $13 and do it yourself! Figure out which one is hot and which is cold, and buy the correct one. Then, use pipe wrench or big pliers and take the old one off, and put the new one on. The guys at home depot can tell you which hose is usually on which side, and more detailed steps to do it yourself.

Forgive my pessimistic way here, but you fix a Whirlpool by replacing it with a Maytag.

The most problem child washer we had was a Whirlpool.
It was just five years old when we had to get rid of it.

Had to buy the Maytag with a pint of blood to boot, but after 17 yrs, still haven't put no more money into it. Keeps on washin'

I figure a standard service call would be about $65-$100, plus the cost of the parts. It depends on area, and work schedules. Call ahead to several companies for quotes. Good luck!

Too much. Do it yourself. It's not that hard.
