I am a registered independant. I do not buy the whole left side, and certianly do not buy the whole right side. When I got on I thought I was pretty right in the center. However, my correspondence with liberals has convinced me that liberalism has grown dangerously out of touch with the realities of our world. I am getting scared that I am learning I am more right of what the rest of the world considers "Center".
Has this happened to anyone else???

Ok. Really, I will always be a registered independant, BUT, what I thought was center, and what is center in my state is apparently WAAAAAY right for many people on here.

It has to me!! After reading this forum, along with reading what liberal politicians say and stand for; I only agree with the liberals on a couple of things! Yet I can agree with conservatives on most things.

I've had a similar experience on YA. Like you, I'm pretty solidly in the center of the political arena and while I can't say that my actual political stance has changed since coming to YA, I can say that I find myself arguing the right a bit more than I normally would.
Personally, I think that the liberals on YA are so far to the ridiculous left, spouting the liberal hate rhetoric without any real thought behind it, that it almost forces me to lean a bit further to the right just to maintain any sort of balance.

As political parties, the Rep's and Dem's are more and more alike every day, moving towards Authoritarian or Fascism. Meanwhile people stay committed to those parties with most of their personal views being more like the traditional right and left.
I used to be somewhat to the right of center, though have political views that could be considered both, but more accurately somewhat above center or Libertarian.
It's not just left and right, contrary to popular belief.

I would sure hope you would not base all your opinions on other people and not what you think is right for the country. I'm sure you have not met all Liberals and I cannot see how you haven't seen how both sides have grown dangerous. I think the best for you is to stay moderate and not switch sides based on a few people. Good Luck!

No one here. I agree. It seems all we hear is the far left and the far right. That's why I vote for the candidate rather than the party. I guess it boils down to what you want to believe the lie before or after the election.

do not hassle ,you are able to vote for everybody you want, no count number the position you stay. the overall public of people that voted for Obama in the primaries were republicans who were voteing for him to adhere the democrats with an unelectable candidate. in case you shop asking people this question, they're going to make jokes about you being a conventional Obama supprter

MOST Americans are somewhere near the middle with leanings to one side or the other. Most people become more conservative to one degree or another when they "grow up".
