Sounds like it's been a bit of a long time. Simply call him and ask if he'll go on a date, simple dinner, or maybe movie and a dinner. You first have to re-establish the chemistry before you can move on to other things.
(BTW, all guys want is sex. We don't actually LOVE women, we just say we do so you'll do stuff to us. We don't do anything in relationships unless we get something out of it. Same goes for women. Little fun fact you should remember.)

I met my fiance through MySpace. We went to high school together, kinda hung out, went our seperate ways. One day he was bored, started searching for old classmates, found me, and the rest is history!
Seriously, just shoot him an e-mail, very chill, and just ask him if he'd like to meet for coffee or lunch and catch up. See if the chemistry, or opportunity, is still there.

maybe it would be a good idea to contact him. I would give it a try. If you no longer talk anyway and you dont work together, than you dont have too much to lose by calling him.

PS: The guy above me knows nothing.
