I read about it in ancient history books.

Just kidding.

Yes, the USA has gone soft. This counrty will never mobalize fully like it did during WWII. The left, the liberals, and the whiney people will not have it.

My grandparents would save a spoonfull of corn or cooked carrots - to put in stew later. i asked why. They were used to it. After living through the Depression and 2 world wars, they learned to value what they had. I had a lot of respect for them after hearing their stories. Unfortunately, my last grandparent passed 2 months ago.

I still have the windshield gas ration from my days car. My fathers eye was used for a civil defense poster that said "Spy's Are every where". I am a baby boomer from just after the war ended. What a lot don't remember is that there were terrorist bombing in Germany right after the war for a few years. They were aimed at Allied troops. Here's a better one. Last year I passed along the long gun to my nephew that my grandfather carried at Gettysburg. Kids gathered pots and pans and aluminum kettles for the war drives. Ladies would give up their nylon stockings because we we unable to get rubber for tires. Americans would lie about their age to enlist. Today they just lie and think as long as it serves their end its alright.

I am only 51, so I don't....but it would seem that if there was a real oil emergency, we would have a gas ration or something to that effect.....but as i watch the stock market and the price of oil, I have realized that when the price is high, industry is pumping away and making money...the ones invested in stocks make money...so, it's all about money.....if a ration were put on gas, there would be less money made...it's about the bottom line......to the Cons. it not so important that we are in a war...causing us to appear militaristic to the world and waste our tax dollars and put our young men in danger....but very important that the economy chugs along in a strong and vibrant way

A huge majority of posters on YA are from the instant satisfaction MTV generation, so your answer is no. Most only repeat what they learn from here or there first year college professor.

Whether you think the war is right or wrong we have created a political system and culture in the media that has proved we can not stomach or support any war over 48 hours.

This is not a Bush answer for we have done the same under Reagan (Beirut) and Clinton (Somalia).

I know about rationing and such. My folks have told me stories of those days. My father served in the South Pacific with the 32nd Inf Div from 42 to 45. Americans may have to go through some seriously tough times in order to get their heads on straight again. Which may not be to far off.
Are those 3 cartridges you have there, are they the .50 cal BMG, the 30-06 and the .223 Remington?

Before my time friend. I did grow up watching Vietnam on the evening news though. Not much rationing and even less rational. Protesters in the streets drugged out people talking about humanity as they destroyed their own. Now those idiots are running our country!

Way too young. way before my time. In WW11 everybody pitched in for the war. This generation would not be able to handle it if we had to do it again. Everybody needs their air conditioners, I pods, and the closest parking space.

This isn't a war, it's a sham. Anyone who thinks it is a war in the real sense has a screw loose.
