I think the best chance that we have of settling any other planet in our solar system would be Mars. There is new evidence showing the history of water and ice. Over the period of several thousand years the planet could theoretically be tera formed so that it would have a breathable atmosphere like on earth. how cool would it be to look up and see more than one moon? Or to gaze through a telescope at planet Earth?

nick s, get your facts straight buddy. There is an estimated 10,000 earth-like planets in the milky way alone. Basically its a race between humanity and mother nature right now. what will come first...a disaster that extincts human beings or human development of technology great enough to leave earth. If we never leave earth, it is a mathematical certainty - we will become extinct eventually. but hopefully theres enough time between now and the next disaster. This doesn't look likely if we continue to live the way we are. Right now we are destroying the very planet we live on and shifting the climate to a state that would be inhabitable by human beings.

Mars for sure. it is more of a common sense move since it is one of the nearest planets to us and also recently they discovered large amount of frozen water on the south pole of Mars (enough to cover the entire planet in 36 feet of water). also it s atmosphere contains CO2 which gives a possibility of terraform the planet to make it closer like earth. in terms of living in a bubble it is possible but infeasible due to the great cost associated with it and the danger it will entail.

Have a look around you. There is nothing, repeat nothing, that we know of in the universe like the Earth.
Every planet in the Solar System is poison to humans, unless they are protected by a billion dollars of high tech gear.
You need to get out more and appreciate this fantastic world.

There's not a whole lot of real desirable real estate elsewhere in our solar system right now...I'll stay on earth.
