Does anyone else think the new 2009 Camaro somewhat of a rip off of the new Mustang and Charger.

The three of them all have really similar bodies, and the big flat grille at the end. I understand that they're trying to honor the '60's but the new Camaro is a real disapointment for me (and I'm a Camaro fan).

Camaros in the past 2 decades never had real grilles, just a vent for air intake, and sometimes scoops. The new grille looks like its straight from a Mustang, with a Chevy logo slapped on.

EDIT: pyledriver, i agree the interior sucks, but lets hope that its just a concept inside.
sure the grill doesn't isn't right off the mustang, but it represents the same thing.
and T-tops, Camaro and Firebirds trademark was the T-top, which isn't an option.
I really did like the older models, but the body is starting to blur lines with the new mustang/charger

hc 8719,
The grille looks exactly like a 69 Camaro. I can buy that . But on a new car something more aerodynamic would have been slicker.
A couple of things I'm not pleased with. The wheels are wildly disproportionate for the size of the car (too big). Everything that the Holden Plant of Australia the motors hang too far forward. Look at a new GTO. The center-line of the motor's is in front of the center-line of the front wheels. What a handling joke that's going to be.
I hate struts in a car that's meant to handle and you know what this ones going to have.
If all they offer is the "milk toast" 5.3 liter 323 cubic inch inch motor with the 4 cyl. on demand motor I'll walk past it. It's got to have the 400 horse all aluminum Corvette motor with the choice of two Corvette 6 speed transmissions. One a close box and the wide ratio box.
I'd appreciate a choice of final drive gear sets. 3.42, 3.55, 3.73 and 3.90's

I don't see it as a "rip off of the new Mustang and Charger" as much as I see it as Chevy cashing in on the retro look, like Ford and Chrysler have done. Personally, I'm looking forward to this new generation. I just hope that they get the engine packages and pricing right (competitive).

Just an FYI, my '99 Camaro has a grille. In fact, all 4th gens (starting with the 1998) have grilles. Also, the only Camaros that had "scoops" were the SS Camaros.

The grille is where you find fault with this camaro? Its got fault written all over it. The dash an gauges are horrid. interior is crap. An they tried to make it too futuristic looking. The mustang and challenger have more than a touch of class an a whole lotta 60's about them. Firebirds an camaro's have looked like crap since 81-82

Not if you really look close. I don't think they're terribly similar, in the broader scheme of things. Hey- there's only so much you can do with an american pony car. And I also think that the Camaro was in production before the 2005 Mustang was even revealed.

No grille? Have you ever seen a Camaro? My '76 had a huge grille, which was a direct development of the earlier ones! I think one should think about what one is saying before opening one's mouth ....
