Its just a little symbol in front of the web address - First question is - what is it called and how do I go about getting one?

it's called a 'favicon', short for 'favourites icon' and is an icon stored in a file called favicon.ico in the root of your website.

it's a two part process, you first of course need an icon. you then upload it to your site, but don't put it in a folder - it has to be at the very root of the site. sometimes you need to format the site/pages accordingly to make sure it shows up.

the above link will tell you everything you need to know about favicons, what format they need to be, where they go etc.

they don't show up only in firefox, in fact they were first used by internet explorer a long time ago and they've become more popular since then, hence they appear in firefox too.
