You are probably signed in under a "regular" user account.

I'm assuming you're using Windows XP.....

If you're logged in already....Log off (not shutdown - Log Off) Windows, and you should be back at the login screen.

By default, the "Administrator" account doesn't show up on the visual XP login screen. This is done from the Control Panel's "User Accounts" section...just select your normal account and change it to an administrator account.

However, if you press Ctrl-Alt-Delete at the login screen, you should be presented with a different, text-based login prompt.

Try "Administrator" as the login, with no password. If this doesn't work, you're in trouble - talk to the person who setup your computer. If it does, then you're in!

Now that you've got administrative access to the machine, you'll probably want to grant your regular account admin privileges.
