We have to wear our hair in a bun with a hairnet around the bun, and secure it with bobby pins. My bobby pins NEVER work! They always fall out. It is very very annoying. My hair is about medium thickness. Does anyone know about a good brand of bobby pins that work? Please and thank you!

Um, i might have the same type of hair as you. I use Bunheads bobby-pins. They are a size small, but in reality they are like maybe two inches long and the bent end is kind of square shaped. These hold in really well, also the sides are wavy. And what I do is put the bun up not too high up on my head, but in a way where I can get a lot of hair. Kind of back of the head. And I put it up in a ponytail. Then I twist the hair and coil it around the center of the ponytail- like where the scrunchies are. I still hold the general shape of the bun with one hand and with the other I stick in the bobby-pins wherever it feels loose. It has to feel secure, then you know you are about done. You can put in a few more pins just to be safe. Only then do I put on the hairnet. The hairnet kind of keeps the pins from falling out. And when the net is on I put on another scrunchy to keep the net on and it also tightens the bun, so you're positive it won't come out. You make sure it’s secure by jumping around or shaking your head. If it isn’t you may want to take off the scrunchy and net and stick in a few more pins. K, well hope this helps!!

Pretty much every brand of an ordinary bobby pin is the same. But, if you buy special varieties then your hair is more likeley to stay in longer. Buy thicker bobby pins made for thicker hair, and you won't have a problem. You could also try a beauty supply store if these aren't available at a local store. Using a lot of hairspray can act as a bobby pin, too.

I have really thick hair and have this problem. To get it into a tight bun I pull the ponytail super tight and twist it until my head hurts if your twist it enough it should just wrap around. I use the big and thicker bobby pins. I shove them in until my head starts throbbing ( I know it hurts, but that's the only way it will stay in). I also put one in the center or the hole in the middle of the bun. Bobby pin the hairnet in after your done and use a lot of hairspray. It also helps if you drench your hair in gel before you put it in a ponytail (I know disgusting). I hope this helps.

Try the bun bobby pins. They are wider and they work like magic in a bun! Make sure your bun is tight before you put the hair net in otherwise it might fall out. Put the wider bobby pins in before the hair net Then put in more bobby pins.

My solution: Skip the bobby pins all together and get a bun clip. Actually, I believe they are called "Octopus clips" by Scunci. I get them at the drugstore. They work great and if your teacher is a stickler get one that matches you haircolor.
