I was watching this tv show, the swan the other day. If you aren't aware - the programs about "ugly" people who become "beautiful" by cosmetic surgery!
Some of the women have major facial reconstruction. Okay, yeah it makes them feel more confident - but is this right?
What kind of world is this where we can't be ourselves? Where everythings judged on outside appearance and we're so ashamed by our flaws that we change ourselves to be more accepted by society.
Everyone has flaws even the women in magazines
what do you all think about this....and cosmetic surgery etc
Do you think there's a way to change this?

I couldn't be more "with" you, sweetie. How do we define ugly & beautiful? Yes, EVERYONE has flaws, even those air brushed perfect lighting yada yada "beautiful" people. What about the inside? People are much like sheep, they follow media trends. So, let's all throw up after we eat, or don't eat at all, to stay skinny--when in fact if you took a survey--most men prefer some flesh on the bones (some more flesh than others!) Not to mention the incredible risks in cosmetic surgery, the disfiguration & even death. Hello? Sadly, YOUNG people are most vulnerable to the hype.
I'm trying to remember something, & will do my best; you may find it interesting.
I am as I am with the faults that beset me, some I might cure, but my nature won't let me. I am as I am, & I do as I do,as I am as I am, & not you being you. Perhaps I would do better by far if I weren't as I am, & I were as you are. But I'm bound to be me, & without any sham, do the best that I can being me as I am.
I think I got it right! I would NEVER have cosmetic surgery, (unless in a horrid accident where half of my face was blown off, & then it wouldn't be "cosmetic.") One more thing--the "world" cannot change us; & I don't give a darn about being "accepted" by a society that is so superficial. Good on 'ya!

I know of what show you speak.
It certainly doesn't encourage diversity physically speaking.
There's a lot of implications from this.
I think I read somewhere that attraction is based upon the 'symmetry' of the opposite sex in that the more healthy and fertile a woman looked (the more symmetrical and in proportion she was) the more attractive she was considered. Thus this encouraged breeding with the 'fittest' of the species. Surgery blurs these lines as it covers imperfections so it makes the playing field more even.
Even so, I often wonder if cosmetically enhanced women look at their children who share their genes and see the same imperfections in their children as they did in themselves. Do they then wish to purchase surgery for their children?
Society definitely needs to redefine and broaden it's sense of beauty. After all, we're not even sure of the long-term implications of plastic surgery.

I think Robert Redford said it best:
"Don't get plastic surgery. You should not try to hold your place in time. It's becoming such a cosmetically conscious country. Everyone is getting lifted and squeezed and tucked. It's become a cult. Everyone is looking 20 when they're 110 years old. I don't care about lifts. It just doesn't feel right. I don't know if this sounds old fashioned, but if you start doing that, you start chipping away at little pieces of your soul."

If it takes reconstructive surgery and some implants to make a woman feel more confident about herself. Then why not? I've seen the show and all of these women have the same issues. They don't feel beautiful. Some of them have stated that they don't even feel worthy to be loved. Because of their flaws. So, if they want to go under the knife to feel beautiful; then so be it.

Unfortunately, it's the world we live in. For people that weren't born with a natural beauty, people can be incredibly cruel. Both men and women treat those that most of us would label 'unattractive' in a very different, and negative way, than they treat those men and women who are attractive.
It's not something that is learned, as even little babies react negatively to an unattractive person.

because those who're judging are too a lot in a rush to open the e book (or get to entice close the man) and make an recommended selection. something it truly is no longer "prevalent," in different words a similar as me, is suspect. people do no longer opt to come across and locate out for themselves what's "interior." do not you be conscious of we stay in an "instantaneous gratification" life type?? unhappy, isn't it.

I wish I could go on that show. It is sad that we are judged on our outside appearance so much, but I catch myself doing it to other people all the time.
I love your av, its adorable.
