Ok you people that like to watch Saw and the Hills have Eyes.... I am not trying to judge but I dont get it... how can you like that? How can you stand watching people suffer slowly and listen to them scream and be tortured. I am just wondering. Help me to understand to see your point because I see those commercials and just those make me sick to my stomach. Why do you enjoy those? Thanks for any answers!

I'm with you. I don't see the thrill with slash & gore type movies. I like psycological thrillers or scary movies which are a tad more realistic with a stalker or a killer hiding in the house.

well for one thing you're not watching PEOPLE suffer, its only acting. I like both saw and hills have eyes but horror exists in a wide spectrum so those are basically waaaaaaaaay at one end. I think the reason people watch them is comparable to the reasons people watch any movies. for example, you watched and enjoyed titanic when it came out didn't you? Well you watched a TRUE story about human suffering and enjoyed it. or those sappy movies where one lovers ends up with a terminal illness. again, human suffering. BUT these are all artificial and completely harmless. oh and as for the actual gore... pssst! it's not REAL!! can you stand to look at ketchup or red paint? then you can handle the "gore" in a horror movie. its all about separately reality from fiction.

I am with you all the way. I saw Saw because my best friend was watching it with her boyfriend and my boyfriend when I came home from work one night... blech. I saw the last 15 minutes and I felt like I was going to throw up. I have not seen The Hills Have Eyes because I just would not be able to stand it. I stay away from those.

Either your too young or too old to understand if your young it's normal for you to feel that way in time you will if your older, I can only say this every generation has their own form of horror and terror films, at time progresses and those type of films become outdated filmmakers need to find a way to make it more Gorey and Horrific for the new emerging audience.

I'm not really into the movies that you mentioned but I do love a good fright film The classics are great and there are tons of good horror films, that don't have the actual blood and gore, maybe just the suggestion of it.

it just appeals to our darker nature. honestly for me i love horror movies and the sort. i love the tension or knowing something is about to happen but not know what or when.
if your really think about it all the stuff that happens could happen ( to a degree ). Its really does help just to let out all those darker thoughts and let your imagination just soak up the images of things you couldn't possibly justify talking about or that you feel ashamed to even think about.
Think of it as a release for the mind from the restraints of society, morals and ethics. giving people this release allows them to give in to there more darker emotions and i believe that as long as people can give these emotions control, even if it is just letting the imagination run loose without any restraints, people will not have to do things in the real world to satisfy the other aspect of our nature.

Imagine a world where everything that represented the darker emotions and the immoral aspects of our nature, was censored...... it would build up, people NEED the release, people need a way to let it out without physically doing something.

I truly believe that a society that tries to suppress part of our nature, instead of finding ways to satisfy it without anything bad happening, will eventually destroy itself.

I don't know why I like them but its the suspense and the not knowing what is going to happen. I cant watch surgery's and things with real blood but with horror movies, you know its all fake. No one is really getting hurt. My mom cant stand horror movies either.

I have loved horror movies since I was very young and to me movies don't bother it's entertaining what's really sick is real life when you have these people out here raping and killing children that's what I can't stand.

okay first of all step away from watching barney all day.

those movies are ridiculous they are gorefest and not classified as REAL horror films. Check out some of the older horror films , not so much horror as spooky and eerie. My advice to you is that if that stuff makes you sick, dont read anyting on the news when it pertains to real life, its worse

It's a special kind of thrill. If you don't understand it, you simply don't understand it. That doesn't make it bad. Just like it doesn't make the person who likes horror movies bad.
I'll take a corny horror flick over any sort of romance story any time.
