I know there is some fantasy mixed in the movie, but does anything know what really happened? Fact from fiction?

I just watched a whole thing on the history channel about it. It's actually kind of real. The Spartans used the landscape to their advantage, keeping the Persians on a narrow ledge, so that they would not be overwhelmed by their numbers. The weapons they used were also true to history. They had a double ended/pointed spear. I seriously doubt that they ran around in little shorts in the winter though. The history channel said they had body armor. Luckily for me :) they didn't wear any in the movie. The movie also fails to emphasize that there were much more than 300 total fighting for the Greeks.

It's based on a comic book. It's not real but he makes it more dramatic with the number of people against a little bit.

the spartans fought the persians against overwhelming odds. Thats it. Frank Miller exaggerates to make it look cool.
