There are very few valid answers to show why Kobe isn't a legend in the making.

Most incoherent people on the street scream of being accused of rape. He wasn't convicted. And sexual misconduct in the NBA didn't start with Kobe. Wilt Chamberlain was said to have slept with thousands of woman. Is he not an NBA legend?

And what of his remarks or actions? Karl Malone once said that he would never play with Magic because he was HIV positive. Is Karl Malone not a great player?

Magic Johnson is HIV positive, his wife isn't. So somewhere down the line he got that from having unprotected sex with another woman or he shared needles. Is he not one of the greatest players ever?

Kobe is the most incredible player in the NBA right now, and possibly ever. Although Jordan won all those championships, he did it when he had help. Kobe won a few with help himself, but when he was younger. Kobe also is constantly selected as one of the best defenders in the NBA. And #24 intends to play for the US team, barring any injuries that have kept him out for the last 3 years.

Most importantly it isn't the stats that make Kobe so great, its the way he does it. Watch film and tell me who has more form than KB. He can dominate the paint, hit any fade-away, and knock down the shots in clutch moments.

If Kobe ever wins an NBA championship without Shaq in my mind he will be the best ever, better than Jordan.

People always blame Kobe in the break-up of the Lakers with Shaq and then they are very happy that Shaq got another championship. Lakers were the 3 time world champions not only because of Shaq. Miami didn't win the ring because of Shaq. I do believe that Kobe is the greatest basketball player in post-Jordan era. It is the media that should be blamed. They make Kobe a selfish, ball hog boastful person. But they should appreciate the greatness of his game. Imagine Lakers without Kobe, it will be a dull Staples Center.

Well first of all I'll have to say that Kobe is one of the greatest to ever play the game. But I think people can't realize that they are witnessing a legend because their definition of a legend is different. And besides the Lakers haven't won a championship since Shaq left.

Very true, Kobe is the best, most exciting player in they post-Jordan era. Although he has had some mishaps off the court, we cant overlook the fact that he is an outstanding basketball player. Its fine to dislike Kobe Bryant as a person, but you have to give him credit and respect with regards to his basketball career. Lets face it, he is hands down the best in the NBA.

Yeah, yeah, yeah Kobe is great, blah blah blah! Let's all agree on that and get it out of the way so we don't get slapped with the Kobe hater tag! Kobe is one of the greatest basketball players alive, and to ever play the game, there ya' go.

What annoys me is when you Kobe fanatics keep trying to convince everyone that he is the GREATEST TO EVER TO PLAY THE GAME! That is ridiculous! Sure Kobe has a great will to score an absurd amount points on occassion, but what has he done on the defensive end that warrants the "greatest ever" tag? What has he done in the post season that warrants that title? You people amaze me by how someone scoring a bunch of points in the regular season can totally blind you to reality.

Here's a comparison to prove my point. Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade both played with a less than dominant Shaquille O'Neal, a washed up Gary Payton and a host of other average to below average role players in the Finals and the results were: Wade averaging over 30 points per game and winning Finals MVP. As for Kobe, he got almost totally shut down to the tune of 22.7 points on 36.3% shooting by the Detroit Pistons in the 2004 Finals. That was one chance for Kobe to step up and lead that team in the post season, but he didn't. I think Wade got alot of calls, A LOT of calls, but at least he was aggressive enough to keep attacking the rim and take advantage of the situation. Kobe gave in to the Pistons defense and shot fall away jumpers most of the series. That was his chance, his moment to be a Finals MVP, because Shaq was no longer dominating, but he got denied that chance by the Pistons defense. The greatest ever should never be denied or shut down on the grandest stage like Kobe was.

Example number 2 of Kobe shrinking in the post season as a leader was the series vs. the Suns last season. In a potentially legacy building series, when he had already come up with a 50 point performance the game before and sinking the two clutch shots in Game 4, in Game 7 Kobe totally disappeared! Explain that! Correct me if i'm wrong but in that game he scored what 7 points in the first half, and 21 overall? In a potentially legacy building, #7 over #2 seed upset game? Would the greatest player ever let that one slip away? NO! My point is that Kobe has to lead the Lakers by dominated both ends of the floor while motivating and keeping everyone involved, being a great leader, thats what truely legendary players do. Hes had his chances and has fallen short, but he should have a few more cracks at debunking those performances, remember he's only 28! So before we annoint him the greatest ever let's be reasonable and respectful to the ones that came before him and accomplished things that Kobe has yet to even reach.

And this is a little addition for Alpha Wolf: While Kobe may have been a "key facilitator" in those Laker titles runs, Shaq was the leader and Finals MVP in all 3, just like Jordan was for all 6! Pippen was a key facilitator as well but you don't see anyone touting him as the greatest ever because was a key member in 6 championships. Also lets get a link or see an article where Phil Jackson said "Kobe Bryant is better than Michael Jordan".

You know it really is starting to get old. And all of this hating just helps solidify the fact that people KNOW Kobe is the best which is why they hate. Who would've ever even mentioned Dirk last year?? NO ONE! Kobe is the best no need to say anything else.

I love watching Kobe. I grew up in Chicago during the Jordan era, and he was my idol growing up. I will tell you, I have never seen a player resemble MJ so much as Kobe does. People keep looking for the next MJ, I will tell you if there was the next MJ, his name is Kobe Bryant.
