I am so sorry for what has happened to you. If it makes you feel a little better, I had lost my wife to breast cancer 6 years ago, after a 30 year marriage. I was traumatized, to say the least at what I went through, only to loose in the end. I also saw an excellent therapist, who helped me to go through the grieving process. As much as I hate to say, there have been many , many people in the world who have gone through, much worse than us. Be thankful, you are OK, and maybe you should think about taking a martial art, so there will not be a next time. people care about you , so you are not alone. God Bless.

At the age of 5 I was sexually abused by a family member and this continued until age 15. I told my Mom and she said "what do you want me to do? He will kill me!" Personally I would have taken the risk for my child!!!! I hope you have a good support group and a great therapist. I am now 35 and have 4 children of my own and could not fathom allowing someone to hurt them. Please continue with therapy and surround yourself with supportive, loving people. Depression tends to follow abuse victims, so be ware. There are great drugs for this, trust me I know! There are times that I will have a nightmare about my childhood, but when I wake up I know I am safe My prayers are with you and your family. I urge you to continue with your therapist and remeber that abuse does not make you who you are, you make you who you are and you can be great!!!!!!!

I became incapacitated by a chronic neurological illness several years ago. Aside from the daily suffering as a result, I lost my dream job (or ablity to work at any job for that matter), I lost my savings due to a constant barrage of medical expenses, and my friends couldn't deal with anything other than "normal" so I lost them as well.

I hope therapy helps you. I've been there too.

My entire childhood was traumatic. I witnessed my dad physically abuse my mother, including cutting her throat, throwing hot oil on her, and pushing her down the stairs. I was also physically and/or sexually abused by a several relatives. I understand your need for therapy. I myself am in therapy. I wish you all the luck the world.
