A-Rod is one of the best current players playing. He is overpaid, but still, I know some yankee fans who want to get rid of him. They say he makes errors and strikes out and does not produce, but here are his stats for 2006, his "bad year"

at bats-572
RBI's-113
hits-166
homers-35
at bat percentage-.290

He was also the AL mvp in 04 or 05, I forget. So why get rid of him?

For a guy who walks in the ballpark to play a game and says "im another million dollars richer today" should be able to perform on a whole different plato then everyone else
His defense is pathetic-bottom line
He has done absolutely nothing in the playoffs to help them win.
With runners in scoring position he can't come thru with the big hit.
Its not about the money because the Yankees aren't paying all of it anyways(they thank the rangers everytime he's issued a paycheck)
Its about being a YANKEE and being paid that amount of money no matter where it comes and for 252 million dollars the Yankees or any team would expect a SUPERMAN type season

Sorry Tom, but Vlad Guerrero was the MVP in 2004. A-Rod won the MVP in 2005 with the Yankees and 2003 with the Rangers.

....to answer your question: Yankees are spoiled fans. They expect a world series title every year, but every year teams like the Angels, Red Sox or Tigers edge them out of the playoffs.

If the Yanks were smart they would trade A-Rod for some solid young pitching.

Tom I am a Yankee fan too. I want to get rid of him but for a good reason. The Yankee's organization will gain a lot of money from it to spend on the solid power hitting first baseman and as a result a good third baseman they need. The big Reason he has got to go is this: the Yankees paid him a load of money to play good baseball; he makes errors and the biggest thing is he said " I want to go to a team that can win" and it is his fault the Yankees aren't going to the World Series.

Playoff Stats Against Detroit:
RBI-0
Hits-1
HR-0
Avg.-.071
Ks-4

In 4 games that is unacceptable for the highest paid man in sports history at 252 million!

becuz yankee fans will never care how many MVP or other awards that he wins.all they care about is that A-rod hasn,t won a championship yet.they also hate him becuz he never comes through late in the game and he,s not clutch.they also hate him becuz they,re trying to tell him that he,ll never be like derek jeter in their eyes.another reason is that the guy is getting paid the most money in MLB but he doesnt seem 2 b the best player.until A-rod wins a championship and stops trying too hard 2 impress every one may b he has a shot with the fans.(that is if hes not shipped out of new york yet)

Because the Mother ****** still has not won a championship with NY I understand he may be a great ballplayer and he is I agree but in NY it is only about 1 thing and 1 thing only win us a goddamn championship Jeter has and yes I understand that it is hard to win a championship but when you come to NYC to play for the Yankees it is only about 1 damn thing and its to win us a title. Also he has choked in the playoffs alot including last year against Detroit so if he cant preform this year in the playoffs get rid of him he needs to step up his game in the playoffs especially. Just look at the stats Rodriguez batted a paltry .133 with no RBI in a five-game first-round loss to the Los Angeles Angels. remember game 6 of the ALCS when he slapped the glove of bostons pitcher Arroyo and then the umps ruled it was illegal and guess what the ******* red sox won the series that year too. Actions speak louder than words man and his actions in the playoffs are saying to us that Alex chockes under pressure so unless he can get his act together this year and win us a damn championship I say if he cant and you can get a great trade for him ship him out and let him choke in the playoffs somewhere else

They want to get rid of him mainly for 2 reasons:

1. His defensive ability has been atrocious over the past few years.

2. His postseason performance has been horrible, and he just could never come up with the clutch hit.

Fans, especially new yorkers, expect the highest paid man in baseball to be able to perform all the time, both defensively and offensively, whether it's April 1st or October 15th.

A-Rod ranked last in fielding for 3B that qualified for the fielding titled. But what can you expect? The guy is a SS. That being said, until last year, his fielding was acceptable at 3B.

NY Fans hate A-Rod because he hasn't delivered. But then again, nobody on NY has delivered in ohhhh, how many years now?

BWA HA HA HA

Yuck the Fankees

For a guy that makes that kind of money, New Yorkers expect him to get a hit every time at the plate and make Hall of Fame plays out in the field. It's a case of they guy making way too much money for his talent. Plus, he is fighting with Jeter who is loved by the fans.

thats some yankee fans in my opinion he should stay in new york and he had a great year last year his bad year and the only reason they dont like him is becuase it dont matter what u do during the regular season what matters is what u do during the postseason and arod hasent produced so thats why but as a yankee fan i want him on the team and he won in 2005 the mvp

alot of yankee fans take pride in being able to tell if a player can make it in NY. most fans feel that he's had his chance and has shown he will not be successful in NY. Some, also feel, his lack of success is bringing down the rest of the team.
