Prometheus is the Titan chiefly honored for stealing fire from the gods in the stalk of a fennel plant and giving it to mortals for their use. Zeus punished him by chaining him to a mountain and having an eagle peck out his liver every evening and letting it re-grow during the day.
Hephaestus is the Greek god of technology including, specifically blacksmiths, craftsmen, artisans, sculptors, metals and metallurgy, and fire. Couldn't find anything saying he created fire, just that he was the god of fire use

Prometheus gave fire to man because he felt sorry for mankind. He stole the fire from the sun and he also told mankind to sacrifice the better animal for themselves and the worse sacrifice to the gods. But Zeus found out what had happend so he punished Prometheus. He chained him to rock and everyday a vulture of a sort would come to Prometheus and eat away at his insides and everynight Prometheus would heal. This pattern continued for some time.

Prometheus is the one who is credited by Greek Mythology as having gifted fire to humans. All the animals had "special" gifts given them. When it came time for humans to get a gift there were supposedly none left (I guess intelligence didn't count for much back then) so Prometheus gave humans control of fire, for which Zues condemned him to death by having birds eat his liver over and over for Eternity.

I don't know of a god that actually created fire, but if you want the one that brought fire to mankind that's different. It wasn't a god either, it was a titan. It's part of greek mythology. His name was Prometheus.

This is *your* homework, not ours. You need to learn to do your own research *by yourself*, not have it spoonfed to you. Check your local library for books on mythology, like Edith Hamilton's, and look under 'fire' in the index.
Hint: It has to do with the character depicted in a huge golden statue over the skating rink in Rockefeller Center in NYC.
