I've been a professional drummer for almost 30 yrs. and have played with many famous people. You can buy a "cheap" set of drums and they don't sound all that bad, like CB 700's or any cheap brand. The differance in sound mainly is the drum heads don't skimp on price, buy good one's. Also Cymbals are VERY important! A cheap cymbal sounds like one! Most professional drummers will tell you the same. Buy good cymbals always. I can make a cheap set of drums sound good but a cheap cymbal sounds sooo bad!! That goes for your Hi-Hat cymbals too.
Buy a cheap set of drums and put Remo heads on them. As a cheap set they will come with no-name. cheap drum heads already on them. And don't spend less then $70.00 on any size cymbal. Sabian AA's or B8 Pro's.

Since you dont really know if you are going to like this instrument why dont you try out someone elses or get a cheap set at like a pawn shop. Then when you realize you like the beating the crap out of drums and I know you will I recommend a set of V drums..they are real drums but you can turn them up and down....you can change the sound of them from regular drums to bongos or congos whatever.....they also have head phones and can instruct you, it has a thing to go by and teach you but please dont turn that thing up full blast because the " oney and a twoey" voice can get to other people around you. The V drums are pretty expensive but really can save you in the long run...good luck music man

Try Ludwig or even Tama. The shells must be wood. If you buy a good known name you are off to a good start. The cymbals are very important. You can not go wrong with Avedis Zildjian. It is better to have a four piece set of a great (brand name)drum set and one or two great, matched cymbals, including hi-hats.I have been playing for 45 years. I still love rock...... One good thing about music....when it hits, you feel no pain!!!!!

in my opinion, i % the Drum set, you have the possibility of purchase some "Mute Heads" Are like regular heads (have the comparable features with the version that the sound merely approximately muted, with the comparable unique music) doing this you besides mght have some motivation, i've got practiced with prepare pads and there is not any longer something boring than that, additionally you are able to seek for a drummer pal and take a examine out together with his drum set to work out if that's what you desire.
