Which AP classes are you planning to take? I took AP Calculus and AP Biology at the same time (also a literature class, chemistry and a zero-hour jazz band) and I felt SWAMPED with homework. Most of it was fun, but I really struggled to keep on top of my calc class.
I think it really depends on the combination of classes you take. Talk to your guidance counselor about it at school. They should be able to give you some advice :)
As far as which to choose, AP classes or a social life, think about it this way...once you get to college/med school you are going to have a LOT of studying to do...for years and years! Enjoy your free time while you have it! Maybe just take your top two AP classes and balance it with a little social time!

ha, well i'm taking 3 ap classes this year and it's killing me if you are satasfied with making c's in the ap classes then yea you will be able to have a social life however if you want to make a's or b's thenyou wont really have time to socialize on weekday's the only free time you'll have is weekends. you may have like maybe 3 free hours a day on weekdays. it all actually depends on what kind of ap classes you taking, the above is just my experience with 3 hard ap classes. Good luck!!

You can do it. The hardest time is that 2 month stretch before the tests....but outside of that the classes sometimes don't even have much more work than a regular "advanced" class. It really can be worth it, both because it increases your chances of getting in to college, and because it can save you time, money, and the annoyance of some G.E.'s in college. Plus, I usually enjoyed my AP classes more than my regular classes (usually).
And, if you want some positive motivation, you can motivate yourself in two ways: think about that month after the tests are done before the end of the semester--you basically get to kick it in half your classes while everyone else has difficult papers, finals, etc. And two, college is TOTALLY the place to really relax, have relationships, etc. Trust me, if you budget your college years well, you will have plenty of time to do whatever you want then.

i took 4 ap classes my senior year of high school, and yes, my social life was nonexistent. i only had time to hang out with friends during school hours (between classes, lunch time, extracurriculars), but after school and on weekends i was always stuck at home or the library studying or doing homework or research for projects in those classes. but in the end, i end up getting high scores on all my ap tests and it's really helping during college. if you really want to sacrifice your social life for something better in the future (i.e., going to medical school), then go for it. some sacrifice is required for all things great.

I know it sucks. I think that you should choose the classes. Why? Because you are only 16-18, and you can have a social life in college and after that. Right now, it is most important that you prepare for college and getting your life set. If you choose your friends, there is a higher chance that you will lose your friends after high school then your brain.

Yeah. In high school, I took all AP classes, played football (well enough to earn a scholarship to UCLA), and still had a pretty awesome social life. Dont take too many if you dont think you are capable though.

balancing out your social life and work can be a tough thing, but its up to you to decide whats truly more important. Now AP classes will help you out in the long run and its just my opinion but i would do the classes you have your whole life ahead of you and the sacrifices now will pay off later.

Yeah... Just wait until you go to college and all classes feel like AP classes. You've been studying hard to get to this point, so this is your chance to prove just how good you can be.
