Even though the power has been shut off, I want to ensure the optimal level of safety. I have taped the circuit breaker switch off and placed tape over it indicating to keep it off. Now, in what manner should I cover the uninsulated ends of the positive and negative wires? Should I tape them together or should I tape them separately? Do i have to tape the grounding wire? Thanks alot! P.S. Don't wory I will not even attempt to wire my new dishwasher.

Tape each wire individually. or use wire nuts.

Get a metal electrical box, a small one with a blank cover. Insert the wide cable into and clamp into place. Attach the bare wire (ground) to a green screw attached to the box. Put wire nuts over the white and black wires (seperately - do not connect together). Screw the blank cover into place. No tape needed.

This way it's all ready should you or someone else later decide to install one. The metal box will help keep curious kids from messing with the wires.

wire nuts is the way to go but also you need to do one more thing clip the end of the wire smooth then put a wire nut on and then tape over the wire nut to eliminate it coming loose

OR just simply detach the wire from the circuit breaker and folding it back label the wire for later use

I would use wire nuts and tighten them over the bare wires on each. Then I would wrap these with electrical tape to ensure no contact with metal is made.

I would buy a juction box, 2 strain releif clamps... three wire nuts... yellow or red will do..i would then make sure power is off mount junction box on wall out of the way of everything and install wire into juction box secure it firmly with wire strain releif...put wire nuts on each wire in cable including ground or attach ground to box on grounding screw then tape each wire and wire nuts so it will be more secure...then put cover on junction box...total cost to you should be less than ten dollars for parts...this also makes it easier for you to install anew dish washer and have a safe way of connecting wires ..

Tape them all separately irrespective of if it is green, red white or whatever. Insulate well by a few turns of the electrical insulation tape. Make sure no part of bare metal shows when you shroud it in the insulating tape. A little extra caution becomes worth a lot.

Wire nuts. Rated for 15 amp use, usually yellow and quite inexpensive at the local hardware store. Twist em on and that will secure them. Ground wire can remain exposed.

You should cover all three with black electrical tape. The ground doesn't need to be covered, but tape all three just to be sure. Definitely tape them separately.

Pick up some wire twist connectors at the hardware store and twist them onto the bare wires.
