The smell doesn't just linger in people's clothing, but also in their hair. Some haircare lines make special sprays that will freshen and destroy stale & smokey odors that cling to hair. I know Salon Selectives used to make one of these sprays a few years back, but I'm not sure if they still produce it. There are also a few of the higher end haircare companies that produce similar sprays. I don't remember which brands at the moment, but you might be able to find something if you browse on a site like Beauty.com.

Do you have a front porch or back proch where they can hang their smoky jackets when they come in from smoking? i'd certainly encourage this, and keep a bottle of spray like febreeze, but i find the dollar store "Powerhouse" brand cheaper and smells better... spray it down, and hit the furniture inside , open windows on nice day, air out the house when the smo\kers arent around. also, spray in closet on smokers clothes..... your wishes are NOT unreasonable, and as adults they should realize that submitting an infant to the (stinky) side effects of their addiction is ok for you to forbid. hold your ground, air out the house. spray it down. Good luck.

Put a fabreeze spray bottle at the doorway.Everytime someone comes inside after having a smoke, spray their clothes with fabreeze. It might help stop the aroma from transfering to the furniture before it happens. They will be transfering febreeze instead. Also your hubby might get so frustrated with you spraying him that he might just quit smoking. You'll be doing him a favor.Saving his life and showing him you love him hahaha.

white vinegar will get out the smell and it is all natural. Put some in a spray bottle with a little water and spray. The vinegar won't stain and it's alot cheaper than febreeze.

There's a Febreeze spray for the furniture and I think they make some laundry detergent also.

Try moving the chairs outside where they smoke to a better ventilated area so they won't be engulfed in smoke.

The smell is on them and not your furniture. It only seems that way.
