I'm just trying to view some gradients tha I am going to download to use in graphic design, where .svg is the only etension i can use.

Other answerer is confused and wrong. For IE you need a plugin to view SVG (such as adobe's). For firefox/seamonkey/etc, they support SVG natively but it might not be enabled in the build you have, so you could try upgrading firefox if you don't have the latest version. Adobe also has an SVG plugin for it.

you need to download a svg player. don't bother making your own svg animations. no one uses that. everyone uses flash instead.
