A lot of promises just can not be kept. It's sad but it is a fact

My Dad used to do that to me all the time, as well as ex boyfriends, always promised me things but never delivered, I hate that! When I married my husband I made him promise me he'd never go back on his promises!

SURE! sometimes you promise things with all the intention of doing it (especially to the kids) but then unavoidable circumstances mean you have to break your promise) ....I think this is why us parents often reply "we'll see" when asked by our kids if they can have something or go somewhere...coz we know its possible a promise could get broken.

I used to hate it when my Mum was forever answering "Oh we'll have to see"....i couldnt understand why she just couldnt say yes or no!!.....but now I'm a parent I TOTALLY get the whole "we'll see" thing and find myself doing it to my child!!

haha

The only person who has never broken a promise to me is my hubby. Everyone else has, at one time or another, broken a promise.

Who hasn't had this happen to them? Fortunately usually it's been small stuff, and unintentional... 'I promise I'll remember to bring that book tomorrow', 'I promise I'll call next week', etc, etc... I can be forgetful myself so I usually don't mind too much, unless it's always the same person forgetting again and again and again!

Promises are made just for that reason, to be broken.

Sure and I hope they feel as guilty as I do when I fail to keep my promises!
