The main reason is because United States is democratic and Soviet Union is communist. After World War 2, they both got a lot of land and emerged out of the war as a super power. They both owned about half of Europe each and Soviet Union was trying to spread communism and the US was trying to spread democracy. There was also and arms race (a race to build nuclear weapons). People thought there was going to be bombings and a lot of people built bomb shelters. The Cuban Missile Crises was also during the Cold War. The Soviet Union planted nuclear missiles on Cuba, which is 90 miles away from Florida. President John Kennedy insisted they remove the missiles. The US blocked all ships from coming in, and then Soviet Union removed them. The Korean war was also part of it too. The Cold War ended aorund 1995.
There was also a lot of other stuff that happened too, like the Berlin Wall and stuff. Google it and see what you can find!!! :))
Hope That Helped

A lot of people know a lot of information concerning the
Cold War
Your question is so undefined, it is difficult to assess just what type of information you're looking for.
Hopefully you'll be more specific?
For example - what would you like to know about the Berlin Wall?
I lived there '69 - '73 when the Berlin Wall was still up.

yes, it was cold, just kidding, basically it was a big stalemate between the eastern bloc countries and the rest of europe, armies poised on the brink of war and ready to go on a moments notice if there was any movement of the other side, I was stationed in west germany twice during the cold war

If I remember correctly, it was the only war with no use of weapons. You should check on that though.
