I have an 03' chevy silverado and the parking brake pedal will not release when i pull the parking lever?

Before trying to release the "hook", make sure the shift lever is in park (for AT) or 1st or reverse (for stick shift) and chuck the tire(s) so the trunk doesn't roll when you release the foot pedal. i own a repair shop,and under neath on the lever part of it there's a gear,and when you pull the lever it supposed to release it,what you,ll have to do is get a screwdriver and trip it to get it to come off,until you can get the replacement part for it,any junk yard will have a good one to fit it,they,ll probably charge you around 25 bucks for the whole unit on that one,good luck i hope this helps.

get out of the truck look under the dash and with a screwdriver pry the lever off it is on the top. and don't use it until you replace the broken part.

How often do you use the parking brake? If you don't use it much the cables can rust
