I am 33 weigh 195 and am 5'5" I am a size 16. I am strong I work out with a trainer and can press 70 and do 35 lb bar bell curls and up right rows and can do full sit ups on the incline with ten lbs on my chest. but even with a "good food" diet under 2000 cal a day I have to work out 7 hrs of cardio and 3 hrs of weight training to loose 2 lbs a week. I seem to have to go to the extreems even though I am in good shape. I always eat some protine if I am eating carbs and eat lean meats stay away from dairy and cheese and journal and count my calories. My thyroid checked out ok. Any advise is appreciated.

I have two theories:

1. You are eating too much - or underestimating your caloric intake.
2. Or you need to eat small frequent meals as opposed to large meals.

Remember an extra 100 calories a day is 10 pounds per year.

I am much older than you - 5'5" and about 115 - I'm a size 2-4. I eat about 1500 calories a day. I am somewhat active: I get my cardio by dancing. And I do simple weights for to cover the weight bearing aspects. I lose weight easily if I don't eat enough. But I eat several smaill meals a day.

It sounds like you are fit, regardless of what the scale says. You have to take the size of your frame into account, as well as the fact that muscle does weigh more than fat. Try mixing-up different cardio activities, treadmill one day, bike the next, elliptical etc...if you haven't already, and do short bursts (30 sec) of high intensity intervals every 5 -10 min or so...that worked for me, because it kicks your metobolism up a notch and doesn't let your muscles get "lazy" by constantly doing the same cardio routine. If you're still concerned, get a second opinion on the thyroid tests...thousands of women have thyroid issues for years before the tests ever come up positive. Check out the WebMD site for more info on that and what additional tests to ask for. Good luck

Maybe your calorie intake is still too much. Lower them gradually until you see results, but dont go below 1200.

maybe all your weight is muscle, it's denser than fat, ya know.
